Charges
We are happy to discuss any new project at no cost or obligation, so long as this initial consultation takes place in Auckland and is concluded within an hour or so. Any subsequent time devoted to your project will be charged at our previously-agreed hourly rate. Such “project time” may include meetings, phone calls or correspondence, either directly with you, or with suppliers on your behalf. Travel time may also be charged, up to a maximum of one hour in either direction. We will always recommend using a courier to deliver documents or proofs, if this will save you money.Estimates and quotes
Estimates are based on past projects similar to yours and are usually phrased, “likely to cost not less than ... nor more than …”. Please understand that such an estimate should only be used as a guide. Depending on the quality of your brief and the number of revisions required, an estimate may, or may not, accurately reflect the final cost of your project. On the other hand, a quote is a firm offer to provide a specific service at a specified price. It is not possible to provide quotes for creative work but we do provide quotes for specific services, such as printing, collating or proofreading.
Payments
At the end of each calendar month, we will send our invoice(s) itemising the service(s) we have provided to you. If a project takes longer than a month to complete, your invoice may include charges for ongoing work. If you decide not to complete a project, you will still be invoiced for any work we did before you changed your mind. Your payment should reach us by the 20th of the following month. For example, any work we did for you in January will be invoiced at the end of January. We should receive your payment no later than 20th February. If your invoice remains unpaid, we may charge a late fee and stop work on your project(s) until the amount owing is paid.
Writing, editing and proofreading
We offer professional copy writing, editing and proofreading services for text, either for use on its own or as part of a design project. If you use our proofreading service and subsequently make further changes to the text, you will be charged for a second reading of any altered pages. You are under no obligation to use our proofreading service, but if you do elect to proofread your own work, then the responsibility for any errors rests with you, not us.
Printing and print management
Our team is made up of creatives, not printers. If you have a preferred printer, we are happy to work with them. If you don’t, then we can recommend printers whose work we trust. If you don’t know how to read a printer’s quote and have no desire to learn, then we offer a print management service: we will obtain quotes, send your project to the printer, provide you with proofs and specify delivery. If you do not already have an account, the printer will expect payment on delivery. Even if you do, work on your job will normally not begin until the printer has a purchase order in hand. So if we manage your printing, the printing costs must be met in advance, either by a purchase order or payment. Whether you arrange your printing or we do,
it is your responsibility to ensure the printer is paid. If you neglect to do this, we cannot accept responsibility for any consequential delay.
